About the Program Guest Investor Visa and Guest Investor Residence Permit - Official Government Approved Program
The Hungarian Government introduced a new legal framework in 2024 – Act XC of 2023 on the General Rules for the Entry and Residence of Third Country Nationals and Government Decree of 35/2024. (II. 29.) – by which qualified foreign individuals are able obtain a long-term residence permit in return for a regulated investment in Hungary.
The objective of the investment program is to attract capital, stimulate Hungary’s economic growth and to strengthen connectivity around the globe on a personal level with small and medium investors, as part of the country’s strategy to build prosperity through financial and investment neutrality.
The guest investor program provides a 10-year term resident status in Hungary, which can be extended to an additional 10-year term. It comes with wide range of benefits, such as free travel within Europe – the Schengen Area – having the right to work, establish a business, purchase properties, along with a full range of social rights.

The Hungarian Residency by Investment Program offers some of the most favorable conditions to investors
- Only program in Europe offering immediate 10-year term residency.
- At its expiry the extension for additional 10 years is guaranteed for guest investors.
- No risk at application, as the investment shall be arranged only after applicants receive a guest investor visa.
- Applications are processed in just 21 days.

- Only 5 years investment is required for a 10 years residency permit.
The Hungarian Residency by Investment Program offers two options:
EUR 250,000
investment in government approved property funds, and maintaining the investment for 5 years
OR
EUR 1,000,000
charitable contribution
provided to government approved social projects
Eligibility of the investment:
Only those property funds are eligible for the investment which are:
- established pursuant to Section 16 (3) a) Act XC of 2023, and
- permitted by the Hungarian National Bank as financial authority, and
- where the asset management company was approved by the Hungarian Government for this purpose and is included in the list of qualified market participants pursuant to Act XXX of 2016 on procurement for defence and security purposes, in order to provide the necessary safety and peace of mind for investors.
OIF, the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing, publishes the list of approved asset management company. Currently only two asset managers are approved.
The eligibility of the social subjects and institutions to receive the charitable contribution should be consulted on a case-by-case basis.

Investors can acquire the guest investor residency in a simplified two-phase application process. No risk at application, the investment shall be arranged only after the guest investor visa is granted:
1. Application for a guest investor visa
- Prepare and submit the investor visa application at home country.
- Application review is done by the authorities within 21 days.
Upon receiving the guest investor visa (valid for 6 months with multiple entry) investors can easily arrange their investment:
2. Application for the guest investor residence permit
- Travel to Hungary and open the bank account (and brokerage account) at the approved bank.
- Transfer the investment amount to Hungary and purchase the subscription notes of the government approved property fund, or arrange the charitable donation.
- Prepare and submit the application for the long-term residency.
- Approval by the authorities is done within 21 days.

- Marriage and birth certificate (as applicable).
- Certificate of no-criminal record.
